Rapid City architect Brian Johnson wants clients to know that his completed projects are done to the highest standards of design quality, code compliance, and technical modeling accuracy. That ensures a smooth construction phase and quality finished projects. “I listen intently to their goals and aspirations to build a relationship of trust,” he says of his clients. He brought that commitment to his most meaningful project, an orphanage in Quimistan, Honduras, that he designed pro bono for a Christian mission that supports children abandoned due to the country’s extreme violence. Brian converted a derelict concrete frame into the first main bunk house on a large orchard with a living room, dining room, bunk rooms, and staff quarters. He also designed for the future with plans for guest homes for more young arrivals. Brian never tires of the song “Faithfully” by Journey. He and his wife chose it as their wedding song. She is a pilot in the U.S. Air Force who goes on frequent deployments, so the lyrics are especially meaningful. Brian sums up his life with this David Bowie quote: “I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring.”
