Mechanical engineer Lance Rikala enjoys solving problems and the benefits that result from approaching challenges as part of a multidisciplinary team. “I enjoy working with a team to help clients get the building that they want and to make it function properly,” he says. Lance is quick to credit engineers and designers who provided a positive influence early in his career, especially as he was preparing to take the principles and practice of engineering (PE) exam. He looks forward to giving back in a similar way. Away from work, Lance enjoys spending time with family, which includes raising three young children already involved in wrestling, soccer, and showing sheep. During his morning commute to TSP’s Rapid City office, he’s more likely to pay attention to the farm and ranch report on the radio instead of a specific music format.
