Rather than taking place on campus in Brookings, TSP’s latest collaboration with long-time partner South Dakota State University is happening in a building at the intersection of 33rd Street and Minnesota Avenue in Sioux Falls.

The SDSU Metro Center will support health sciences education and future health care workforce development. Building renovations are scheduled to begin this summer and continue through 2025.

With 44,000 square feet of interior renovations, the spaces will include teaching and learning areas, staff offices, and state-of-the-art SIM labs for the SDSU pharmacy and nursing programs. Along with the interior renovations, the aging exterior will receive a much-needed face-lift, with vibrant new finishes and SDSU branding.

Avera gifted the building to South Dakota State University, which expects to educate more than 400 students in the facility each year. The numbers include more than 150 students from the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions and 240 students within the College of Nursing. Of those, 160 will be pursuing undergraduate degrees; another 80 are in the graduate program.
