The Columbus Family YMCA’s top leaders calls his community’s 85,730 sf new Family Health & Wellness Center a “game-changer” for its mix of preventative health, rehabilitation therapy, and recreational programs. The local YMCA and Columbus Community Hospital (CCH) partnered for the joint facility, which held a public open house November 1. The project aims to address area health issues such as obesity, diabetes and cardiac disease. Within the center are three pools open to the Y’s members, as well as a clinical therapy pool just for CCH’s rehab patients. Uniting wellness and outpatient medical services in the same location also provides a “Wiggles & Giggles” suite that’s uniquely designed for children with special therapeutic needs. Other features include a double gymnasium, fitness equipment and studio areas, and a 1/12-mile track.
