TSP mechanical engineer Sidney Van Schepen has been named to Prairie Business’ Top 25 Women in Business for 2024. The annual list recognizes creative and successful businesswomen in North Dakota, South Dakota, and western Minnesota for their impact on industry and the economy.

Prairie Business selected recipients through a nomination process emphasizing professional achievement, community contributions, and volunteerism. The 25 women listed represent finance, health care, manufacturing, and other industries and professions; each has made exceptional contributions to their chosen careers and communities.

Van Schepen earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from South Dakota State University. She is a licensed professional engineer in South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.
Nomination excerpts describing Van Schepen’s community involvement and volunteerism
Sidney volunteers as a member of the Mechanical Engineering Advisory Council at South Dakota State University. This group gathers regularly with SDSU mechanical engineering staff as part of the department’s continuous improvement process.
She regularly represents TSP at career fairs and has an important leadership role in helping the firm select and guide interns.
Sidney serves on the board of directors for the South Dakota Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers, an organization dedicated to technology advancements to better serve humanity and promote a sustainable world.
