Imagine walking through your downtown 20 or 30 years from now and finding a Grand Prix-style raceway, a space port, or even a “quantum levitation reclamation system” built in for the site’s evolution throughout the next several decades. Those are just some of the urban community ideas from student architects in South Dakota State University’s new Architecture program.
TSP team members Paul Boerboom and Chase Kramer joined Architecture Department faculty and colleagues from area firms for the late October progress review of students’ work. The current studio for sixth-year students focuses on site development, which is a curriculum requirement for new university programs seeking approval from the National Architecture Accrediting Board.
TSP is a founding supporter of SDSU Architecture, the first program of its kind in the state. In addition to mentoring through design reviews, TSP sponsors both an architecture scholarship and a summer fellowship in the name of our founder, Harold T. Spitznagel.
