Brian Johnson, AIA, NCARB, LEED GA, EDAC, has accepted a new role at TSP, Inc. as Director of Architecture.

Johnson, who joined TSP in Rapid City in January 2020 as a senior architect specializing in healthcare design, will report to CEO Jared Nesje. He will focus on strategic, firmwide design and creative initiatives at TSP, a multidisciplinary architectural and engineering firm that was founded in Sioux Falls in 1930 and has been in Rapid City for almost 50 years.

“This newly created position was formed to leverage TSP’s architectural expertise throughout the entire firm,” Nesje said. “Brian shares a passion with many others here at TSP for continued learning and commitment to his profession.”

Johnson is a graduate of Montana State University with a Master of Architecture degree. He is a board member with AIA South Dakota, where he chairs its Scholarship Committee, and a member of the Young Professionals Group, a program of Elevate Rapid City.

In addition to healthcare, Johnson’s portfolio encompasses K-12 education, recreation, civic, and defense work. In 2020 he received Evidence-based Design Accreditation & Certification through The Center for Health Design. He also is a LEED Green Associate.

TSP Rapid City has provided architecture and engineering throughout the Black Hills region for more than 50 years. Projects include Pearson Alumni and Conference Center for the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Foundation, the recent renovation of the City Hall in Rapid City, and continued work with Monument Health.
