Vermillion, SD School District administration, staff, and community members were credited with helping TSP design a world-class facility for a new elementary school.
At a groundbreaking event held June 22, TSP Principal-in-Charge Sean Ervin said the community’s input and passion for education was instrumental in designing a facility that will serve the area for multiple decades.
The new elementary school will be linked to the existing middle school and is planned for five sections of pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. The design will also include junior kindergarten, Head Start and pre-school with two classrooms for each, six special education rooms, and flex rooms and open student commons areas.
The school is designed with flexibility in every space to allow for growth in single grade levels or the overall student body.
The new school will provide students with the tools they need to be successful in school and beyond, said Jeff Erickson, board chair of the Vermillion Area Chamber & Development Company.
“As a whole, this project will further the school district’s mission to allow all students in Vermillion to make connections, to inspire one another, to achieve their very best.”
