The Augustana University Art Department has presented its highest award – the Harold Spitznagel Medal for Achievement in Art – to graduating students Willow Fluent, Jake Pecina, and Nick Doby.
The Spitznagel Medal, first presented in 1959, is given to artists who demonstrate the highest artistic standards during their careers at Augustana.
TSP founder Harold Spitznagel’s strong connection to the art world and his friendship with Augustana art professors provided the inspiration for an enduring award to recognize outstanding art students.
The awards were presented during the opening reception of “The Augustana Senior Show” at the Eide/Dalrymple Gallery on Friday, May 1.
This is only the second time in the award’s history that three individuals have been honored with the award in one year.
