Rochester-based architect Kevin Blondo found significance in the first project where he realized he was making a difference in people’s lives through thoughtful design. “This project made me realize that through design, we could really have a meaningful impact and help people live better lives,” Kevin says. The project was a memory care addition to a nursing home. As Kevin describes it, the building exterior was nothing special, but for the interior patient areas, he collaborated with medical experts to incorporate what were at the time the latest design elements specifically intended to accommodate the needs of memory care patients. “After the project was occupied, we followed up with the staff and were thrilled to know that they were extremely happy with how the new facility was working for the patients and staff,” Kevin says.
