Kyle Finck knew he wanted to be an engineer from an early age.

His journey toward a career in engineering was shaped by the positive influence of his parents, both industrial engineers, and an early talent for taking things apart and reassembling them.

Driven by a commitment to excellence and innovation, Kyle has been motivated every step of the way.

Kyle later brought that mindset to Iowa State University, where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering.

Before joining the TSP team, he most recently worked in the Twin Cities, providing lead mechanical design services for projects focused on renovations for VA hospital and cemetery buildings.

“I am a firm believer in the power of collaboration,” Kyle said. “I thrive in team environments where I can seamlessly integrate with multidisciplinary professionals.”

Growing up in Rochester, Kyle was active in Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, which helped him develop leadership skills and a strong work ethic.

He still helps with his former Boy Scout troop whenever possible.

“My dad is the scout master, so when he needs me to help out or run errands, I pitch in,” Kyle said. “If he needs things done quickly before the Scouts arrive, I am happy to step in and get it done.”

To Kyle, the design process is an opportunity to creatively solve problems within given parameters, aided by knowledge and experience. He plans to add to that knowledge base by earning his Professional Engineer’s (PE) license within the next year or so.

One thing many people might not know about Kyle is that he’s the only boy in a family of four kids. Due to the influence of his sisters, he estimates that he watched “The Nutcracker” at least 100 times before he turned 12.

In his free time, Kyle enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, playing sports – especially golf and soccer, and designing objects for his 3D printer.
