Welcoming, student-focused spaces

Team TSP renovated existing classroom space within the Mickelson Education Center at Southeast Technical College to create two relocated departments: a Testing Center and Student Accounts. Both spaces were designed to complement the building’s existing architecture while introducing welcoming environments that improve accessibility and student experience. Large glass windows connect each department to the adjacent lobbies and corridors, bringing natural visibility and a sense of openness to the spaces.

Testing Center designed for focus and privacy

The new Testing Center is accessed directly from the building’s main entrance and welcomes students with a dedicated lobby. The space provides convenient check-in, personal storage lockers, and access to three distinct testing areas. The variety of spaces designed for testing include a high-stakes testing room located directly off the lobby, a large open testing room, and seven private testing rooms. Acoustically separated and well-insulated spaces provide a comfortable environment designed to support focus, privacy, and optimal testing conditions.

The Student Accounts department was relocated to improve accessibility and is now conveniently positioned across from Financial Aid. Its welcoming entry features expansive glass windows and casual seating, creating an approachable point of entry for students. Three walk-up stations provide convenient access for tuition payments, while a private office and conference room support staff operations and student needs.
