Bramble Park Zoo has broken ground on a complete renovation of its wolf habitat, an important first step as part of the Zoo’s effort to regain accreditation through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

The original wolf building, built in 1989, is outdated and no longer meets the Zoo’s standards for care.

TSP’s design of the renovated facility will double the indoor space, add heating, automatic drinkers (ensuring fresh water at all times), and include running water and proper drainage—making it easier to clean and much more comfortable for the wolves, especially during South Dakota’s extreme winters.

The remodel will feature a new glass viewing area, where guests can safely stand just inches from the wolves. This will give visitors a better understanding of the animals’ size and behavior, while offering an up-close look of how keepers interact with and care for the wolves.

Project completion is scheduled for late summer or early fall of 2026, at which time the wolves will return to Bramble Park Zoo.
