The SDN Communications LaMesa Data Center, located in northwestern Sioux Falls, functions as a co-location facility, data center operations hub, disaster recovery site, and point of presence.

This single-story building consists of a shell build-out and partial interior build for SDN. Constructed with 12-inch-thick concrete walls, the building features multi-layered security systems, including biometric access, dual authentication, and stringent control protocols. With connections to metro, statewide, and regional fiber networks, as well as Tier II/III network providers, the facility ensures high-performance data access. It is equipped with a 2MW generator, specialized fire suppression systems, and a program that maintains precise temperature and humidity control.

The 66-acre site also offers easy access to both major South Dakota Interstates (I-29 and I-90).

Pod 1 of the data center totals 25,000 square feet with 10,000 square feet of raised data floor space. Pod 2 is the same size, and two more pods can be added to the west.

TSP provided architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical design services for the Pods.

Features of the Data Center:

  • 12-inch-thick concrete walls
  • No windows
