When Jacob Fleck was a senior at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, he worked with Bobcat to create a vibrating bucket. “It was the first project as an electrical engineer where I was more on my own in a non-class setting,” he says, and will always be memorable to him. Jacob describes himself as being ready for any challenge that comes his way—and ready to learn from those challenges. He cares about family and building relationships with the people around him. Put him on a desert island, and he’ll occupy his time with a sudoku book and any two books that he’s never read before. His high school choir would sing Handel’s Messiah every year in concert. “It really became my favorite,” Jacob says. He follows Alfred Einstein’s advice: “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”
