Fire Station 13 designed to support Sioux Falls’ growing public safety needs
TSP, Inc. has partnered once again with Sioux Falls Fire Rescue on the design of Fire Station 13 in the northwest part of the city. The new public safety facility is a single-story fire station with a mezzanine level and a 12,500-square-foot footprint.
Designed to support modern emergency response operations and long-term functionality, the facility also includes dedicated work areas for fire inspectors and personnel from the City Planning & Development Services Department.
Improving emergency response operations
Building on TSP’s previous work on Fire Stations 11 and 12, Fire Station 13 introduces operational improvements intended to support faster emergency response times.
A key design enhancement places firefighters’ bunk rooms closer to the apparatus bay, helping crews respond more efficiently to emergencies.
Fire Station 13 also expands opportunities for firefighter wellness and physical training through dedicated fitness and conditioning spaces.
Industrial-inspired municipal architecture
Unlike the more residential character of Fire Stations 11 and 12, the architectural design of Fire Station 13 draws inspiration from the surrounding industrial context of the area.
The $5.2 million fire station is expected to open during the first quarter of 2027 and will serve approximately two dozen city employees assigned to the facility.
Puetz Design + Build is serving as contractor for the project.
