Midco Aquatics Center was mechanical engineer Sidney Smith’s first big design project, and she describes it as a learning experience and challenging since the pool areas created unique design challenges. Since it is near our Sioux Falls office, she could visit the construction site frequently and watch its completion. “Every time I visit, it’s nice to see the impact the aquatic center has had on the community,” Sidney says. With every project, Sidney works hard to collaborate with the whole design to meet a client’s goals. She lives by the quote “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” Her favorite song? Garth Brooks’ “I’ve Got Friends in Low Places.” “It always cheers me up, and if you’re in a crowd, everyone will start singing it,” she says.
