Carly Nord was thinking of her grandparents as she put her expertise as an electrical engineer to work on the Dow Rummel Village Memory Care and Assisted Living addition and remodel in Sioux Falls. Two of her grandparents died within eight years, and both had moved to assisted living/hospice care facilities prior to their passing. “Being able to provide an updated design for a similar space that is meant to help that transition and create a homey-feeling place for people similar to my grandparents was quite special,” she says. Through thoughtful design work, Carly creates energy-efficient and innovative lighting control systems for clients. Carly follows Albert Einstein’s advice: “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” Her goal is to live life to the fullest. In recent years, that has meant traveling to Norway, marrying her husband, and welcoming two sons into the world.
